Marielle and Damon {Seattle Engagement Session}

I love shooting in Seattle, and I love the market.  The sounds, the smells, and the sights always make such an amazing backdrop for portraits.  I’ve shot down there a hundred times, but each trip I discover little hidden surprises that I hadn’t noticed before.  Meet Marielle and Damon- they’re planning an October wedding (LOVE the fall in Seattle), and Pike Place Market was the perfect spot for their winter engagement session.  I use the term ‘winter’ very loosely- as you can see by the pictures, we had a gorgeous sunny day that could have easily been in May.  Score.

A side note for all the grooms out there:

Damon had a busy day- full of wedding errands and appointments (including their e-session), and like many grooms, he couldn’t quite decide how he felt about engagement pictures.  I think a lot of the men out there have the impression that it’s a painful hour of wearing uncomfortable clothes, putting on a goofy smile, and saying cheese.  (Sounds pretty freakin’ scary to me too)  But also like other grooms, he soon found out that the e-session doesn’t have to be boring/stiff/uncomfortable, and by the end he was laughing and -*gasp*- having fun.  Yes boys- the engagement session can be fun.  I said it.  I totally understand-  it’s a little intimidating when someone puts a big camera in your face.  Most of us haven’t had our picture taken since… senior portraits??!  But I promise, after the first 5 minutes you’ll start to feel the nervousness/awkwardness fade away.  And if it’s not, I’m happy to buy you a beer for a mid-session break.  See?  It’s a win-win.  🙂

Damon, you’re awesome.  Way to grab some air.  And Marielle- you’re gorgeous.

I love the city.

Look for their wedding pictures this fall- SO excited for their wedding!
